This exhibition, as a continuation of the previous one ” The Printmaking Art’s Role”, focuses on Art, presenting artworks from the Museum’s permanent collection. In the first hall every guest will encounter prints which reveal almost every printmaking technique from the 16th century until the modern ones. These works have been created for a single purpose: the reproduction of artworks of different classifications and techniques (i.e oil or watercolour paintings, sculptures etc), in order to communicate and introduce the work of famous artists of each era to a wider audience. Often-times the outcome of this reproductive printmaking are large, impressive and magnificent prints competing equally the original art-pieces.
In the second hall, the displayed exhibits, (including woodcuts, intaglio printings, lithographs and linocuts), are of different centuries and made by various printmakers, who designed, engraved, and sometimes even printed themselves, their works.
